Good for the elderly
You must be 62 years old or older, or a homeowner of any age who has a handicap. Have been granted a property tax exemption via the Homeowners Property Tax Assistance Program (HPTAP), which has recently been renamed the Homeowner Property Exemption (HOPE). The program is intended to give property tax relief to low-income homeowners who qualify.

A variety of homeownership tools are available through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, including mortgages, down payment help, foreclosure prevention, education, and counseling.
