Adult Day Care Centers are designed to provide care and companionship for older adults who need assistance or supervision during the day. Programs offer relief to family members and caregivers, allowing them to go to work, handle personal business, or just relax while knowing their relative is well cared for and safe.
Get approval from local zoning authorities for the building where your center will be located. Also get approval from your local fire safety authorities for your adult day care enter. Submit a report from a food hygiene inspection conducted by your county health department with your application as well.

You will need a Virginia license to operate an adult day care if you will be providing care for at least four elderly people or adults with disabilities in that state. Contact your local Virginia Division of Licensing office to schedule pre-licensure training.
There is no charge for assessing your needs but you will have to pay for your lunch and refreshments during the day. At some centres the daily charge will include the cost of transport.
