A 20-year-old Detroit nursing home patient, Jaden T. Hayden , was charged with assault for the alleged beating and recording it. At the time of his arrest, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said Hayden was charged with two counts of assault, larceny and two counts of stealing a financial transaction device.
Hayden had been sent to the nursing home because he had tested positive for COVID-19 and was part of a Michigan health officials’ policy of sending some COVID-positive patients to quarantine in area nursing homes instead of doing so at home .
Hayden is incarcerated in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bond. Wayne County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Pageant Atterberry said Hayden is in quarantine as he is tested for COVID-19, which is protocol for all incoming prisoners.
